Nunhead American Radio with Lewis Schaffer 23 April 2012 with Councillor Rosie Shimell and Comic Paul Ricketts!

23 Apr 2012 Shimell, Ricketts. Our best show ever. The Voice of Americans with Lewis Schaffer of Nunhead and co-host Lisa Moyle. Join our guest Liberal Democrat Rosie Shimell from Nunhead Heights. She grew up here and alternated between calling it Nunhead and Peckham Rye! Now she represents East Dulwich and knows it's now Nunhead Heights. And she is only 23 years old. I have been a disappointment more years than she has been alive. Also, my good friend and Afro-Caribbean Bedfordshire-Englishman Paul Ricketts came on in. He subsitituted ably for expected guest Nick McNeill, formerly of Ihe Ivy House Pub

who couldn't make it, and I understand why. He lost his job and his home in the pending sale of the pub. I know what it is like to lose a job and a home - I have lost a few. He's rearranged to be on the show Monday, 30th April 2012. Paul is doing a big gig at the Leicester Square Theatre for my old friend Martin Witts. Martin, call me!

Chris Dixon is on the soundboard and with the beautiful voice. Enjoy this, our best show, ever!

Nunhead American Radio with Lewis Schaffer 20 February 2012 with comic Ivor Dembina, & Nunhead restaurant Folk Gion Leka and Bobby Dowler!!

20 Feb '12 Ivor Dembina, Gion Leka. Listen to the Voice of Americans from Nunhead. The only Radio program for Americans living in Nunhead. Our best show, ever!  English comic Ivor Dembina on fine form as he sits in with Frog on the Green proprietor, Nunhead resident and former Albanian, Gion Leka. He brought along Bobby Dowler, an artist and restauranter-in-arms (with Gion) at the Provisional Soup Kitchen on Copeland Road. Bobby's from the oppressed nation of Croydon, south east London.  It just happened an hour ago and I can't remember a thing - that is the mark of a great, great show. Oh, Ivor was trying out jokes!

Gion and I had met perhaps eight years ago at the Father's Baby and Toddler Group at the Townley Road Clinic, run by lovely Penny in East Dulwich. I hadnt remembered him when I called him on the phone to arrange for him to come on the show - such a small small world Nunhead is! He told me how I was laid low at the time and was a very attentive father, going often, for instance, to wipe my son's nose.

Lisa Moyle was wonderful again as co-host. Hannah Brown was expertly manning the tech desk. Enjoy!

Listen live every Monday at 10:30pm London Time on www.resonancefm.com streaming or in Nunhead at 104.4fm

Nunhead American Radio with Lewis Schaffer 13 February 2012 with Malcolm Collins of Friends of Nunhead Cemetery and ex-Nunhead American Robin Schacht!!

13 Feb '12 Cemetery, Robin Schacht.  The Voice of Americans with Lewis Schaffer and Lisa Moyle. Our best show ever! Every day our show becomes more and more about our beloved Nunhead. This week we learned that Charles Dickens might have actually died in Nunhead. (Yes, Wikipedia that!) "Satheast" Londoner Malcolm Collins gives us the inside dope on the treasure of Nunhead, Nunhead Cemetery, as a representative of Friends of Nunhead Cemetery (FONC). "Why does a cemetery need friends?" is one question we asked.

It has only taken us two and half years to have someone from his organization in the studio.  His daughter, Anita, couldn't make it and I was pleasantly surprised when Malcolm was able to hold the show on his own.

As always, Robin Schacht from Washington DC and Nunhead added good, wholesome American spirit to the proceedings.  Not that co-host Lisa Moyle isn't wholesome, she is, but in a very New York way. It struck me who Robin reminds me of: a very young, and perhaps even prettier Meryl Streep! Lovely Leanne Bower has flown the coop - sadly. A shout out to her Mom and her Dad up there in Barnsley or Burnley or Blackburn or Blackpool. It begins with a "B", that is all I know.  Lovely Charlotte ran the soundboard for the first time, under able direction of Chris Dixon, who also added a very funny joke to the show.  And Lisa Moyle was particularly pleasant! Enjoy.

Listen live most every Monday at 10:30pm Nunhead time (22:30 GMT) at 104.4fm in Nunhead and arounds or stream us at www.resonancefm.com.

See me live most Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the Source Below in Soho. Lewis Schaffer is Free until Famous, 11 Lower John Street, London, W1F 9TY reserve at www.sourcebelow.com

Nunhead American Radio 30 January 2012 with Nunhead Artist Morganico.com, technologist Super Zuma, and Nunhead Comic Liam Mullone!!!

30 Jan 12 w/Morganico.com & Liam Mullone. Our best show! Voice of Americans with Nunhead-New Yorker Lewis Schaffer and lovely co-host Nunhead Borders resident Lisa Moyle. Our amazing guests this week are the incredible Morganico, a prime mover behind getting the skateboard ramps Southwark in in Nunhead's Peckham Rye Park, and local arrtist who painted the decorative bollards and the electricity sub-station on Forest Hill Road outside the Herne Tavern. Joining Morganico.com is his funny black friend Super Zuma (aka Elkin Gordon Atwell) who was running security for  Morganico.com and is himself a social entrepreneur and technologist. Laconic, droll and cynical comic Liam Mullone, maybe Nunhead's top comic, if we don't count Lewis Schaffer, pays us a return visit.  We ticked boxes! Enjoy!

hannah Brown is working the tech desk as Leanne Bower has decided she needs to go to sleep early on Mondays. With lovely Lisa Moyle, fascinating and beautiful as ever!

Nunhead American Radio with Lewis Schaffer, 16 January 2012, with Nunhead American Rebecca Allen, Southeast Central Forum guru Steve Pafford, and English Comic Paul Ricketts!

16 Jan '12 w/ Steve Pafford & Paul Ricketts. Voice of Americans with Lewis Schaffer of Nunhead.  Show Two of the season and expertly planned and executed it is!  Host Lewis Schaffer and co-host Lisa Moyle speak with Nunhead American artist and art teach Rebecca Allen, from Kansas and Steve Pafford, the ever-elusive English journalist and organiser of the Southeast Central forum (www.southeastcentral.co.uk) where Nunhead features prominently. They are joined by my friend, and black Englishman and comic Paul Ricketts. Enjoy the best show we have ever done! With lovely Leanne Bower womanning the soundboard.

Nunhead American Radio with Lewis Schaffer. 28th November 2011 with Nunhead Councillor Victoria Mills, Nunhead American Jeff Kuntz, and Nunhead Football Coach Steve Scanlon.

28 Nov '11 w/Cllr Vicky Mills & Coach Steve Scanlon. Voice of Americans with Lewis Schaffer of Nunhead.  Our best show ever! If you have ever wondered: "What makes Nunhead so good?" This is the show for you! An interesting combination of Nunhead Labour Councillor Vicki Mills, lamenting the loss of community under Margaret Thatcher (or maybe that is just what I heard), Nunhead Football Coach Steve Scanlon, who coaches the up and coming Carnegie Schaffer, giving us the latest on the Athenlay Football Club and also new Nunhead American Jeff Kuntz, telling us how to pronounce his name. All in good fun. How can Nunhead be THAT fascinating? Well it is!!! Listen and enjoy. But wait...

Robin Schacht, Nunhead American (well, she used to live in Nunhead and she is such a good sport) sat in Co-Host's Lisa Moyle's seat, as Lisa was out sick suffering an English Disease. We missed her. Leanne Bower is ably working the board. Chris Dixon on emotional support. Enjoy.

Nunhead American Radio with Lewis Schaffer 7th November 2011 with Nunhead Councillor Renata Hamvas and Nunhead Comic Sion James!

7 Nov '11 w/ Cllr Renata Hamvas and comic Sion James. The Voice of Americans returns to politics with Southwark Councillor Renata Hamvas, who impressed Lisa Moyle, the co-host and Lewis Schaffer, the host, with her knowledge of the minutia of Nunhead life - though nothing is minute in Nunhead to us. Also on board is comedian and Nunhead comedy show promoter (at the Ivy House) Sion James, who is very very VERY dry in comedic approach. I guess when you come from Wet Wales you need something to be dry!  With Leanne Bower on the desk.

This was the best program we have done so far. Enjoy!

Nunhead American Radio with Lewis Schaffer 3rd October 2011 with Near Nunhead American Norman Welch and Nunhead Pub Landlord Nick McNeil!

3 Oct '11 Ivy House, Norman Welch.  Another fantastic Voice of Americans with Lewis Schaffer of Nunhead. Lewis Schaffer would say this wasn't one of his best but what does he know? Leanne Bower was under the weather and Chris Dixon manned the tech desk. We met for the first time Nunhead Heights main Pub Landlord Nick McNeil and what good guest he was - telling how his hippy parents threw stones at American soldiers at Greenham (?) in the last century. Also on board is our mate Norman Welch, a true American from Oklahoma or Missouri or somewhere. I'll find out more later.  You can listen and tell me.  With lovely Lisa Moyle, my American friend.
