Nunhead American Radio with Lewis Schaffer

9 May 2011 Christian Reilly, Randy Klein.  Voice of Americans! We resume after a three week break for Bank Holidays - who knew when we accepted this time slot we would be able to have the Mondays off so often? Not that we had much choice of time slots! This Voice of Americans show is gorgeous! It comes right after Osama bin Laden and Kate Middleton Wales were all over the press and Lisa and I were well rested.  Our special guest, Musician and comic Christian Reilly, ticked a few boxes - worked with Rich Hall, the funny American comedian and the most famous American comedian working in the country today, as Ruby Wax has waned a bit. He is a musician and sang a leftwing type song, which is sure to make many of our listeners feel smug, and he is a comic who has seen me perform my one man show at the Source Below [11 Lower John Street, Soho W1F 9TY, every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 8 PM (God willing) - reservation information at www.lewisschaffer.co.uk or www.sourcebelow.com]. He loved it!! 

Also on board was loyal friend and fellow Nunhead American Randy Klein. He is like my older, more successful older brother. We neglected to ask him what I need to help my comedy career

 -this was Chris Dixon's idea, and a good one. We shall do it next time.  But we did discuss the royal family, and only in Britain could we say not so nice things a country's monarchy and get away with it (we hope!). God Bless Britain for being so accepting. Chris wasn't here, except for a brief visit toward the end. Leanne Bower ably womanned the deck at our Borough High Street studios. Another thoroughly enjoyable show with four beautiful women in our studios in Nunhead Heights (actually Borough, London - it's all SE!). Nunhead American Robin Schacht is originally from Washington, DC, as in Direct Current, which is ironic, because Washington is the home of Politics and nothing is ever 'direct' in Politics. She chatted with us about her recent trip representing Nunhead the African country of Uganda. How exotic it all sounded but I wasn't moved to want to leave my Nunhead. She was joined by the very exciting Jo Romero, who is a friend for life because of her open and out-going personality, so very American. She relayed details of her trip to New York City, a city, which she said she didn't like at ALL, which surprised Co-Host Lisa Moyle and me. The truth be told, she rented a room in Washington Heights, not at all similar to Washington, DC. It would be like making a visit to South London and not staying in Nunhead!  Lisa gave a report on Tara Smith having her baby and moving back to the Upper East Side, which is one place that Jo might have stayed, and then we had a lively chat about how the British do not like to be touched. All very funny!  Chris Dixon was suffering from vocal illness so Leanne Bower sound-boarded us again, and added quite nicely to the program. A lovely show! ENJOY! 

Another thoroughly enjoyable show but this time with three big guests!  Join Lewis Schaffer and co-host Lisa Moyle in welcoming, in no particular order, Nunhead Borders and American musician Jeff Miller for a solo appearance without his Hackney Collier Band. He MP3'd their single "Africa" and it sounded AMAZING.  Second up is David Hardcastle, the Bradford England comic and comedy club promoter. He was here promoting his new comedy venture, The Leicester Square Working Men's Club, and his old venture, the comedy night "Get Happy at the Leicester Square Theatre. Finally, we chat with Mr. Wayne Saunders, another person who took on the role of promoting Lewis Schaffer's career, only to realize it was a lost cause. He wouldn't say this directly, he being charming and very English, coming from The Wirral, which sounds similar to "The Bronx" in its charm. Three lovely people, plus the beautiful and talented tech person Leanne Bower  (our Chris Dixon being away on assignment) and gorgeous co-host Lisa Moyle who gave a much-valued report on Nunhead American Randy Klein's and Michael Holland, guest of the show's film. The Voice of Americans with Lewis Schaffer of Nunhead, the only radio program for Americans living in Nunhead, the Capital of Southwark Water Supplies and Human Burial Services, welcomes back two of our favorites:  Michael Holland, the dude who wrote the Southwark News article about our show calling what I say "often cow crap" is back to talk about his new film on successful Nunhead American artist and friend Randy Klein. Randy speaks of working with Michael and Randy offers his services as a life coach to Lewis Schaffer and the show. We try to save the Honor Oak Recreation Ground and talk about how Reg Varney filmed "On the Buses" in Nunhead. Or part of it. And what is the correct pronunciation of Nunhead? Nun-ed or Nun Head? Co-host Lisa Moyle is brilliant, as always, and I mean that without irony. She is a natural and if she gets any better, I am going to have to pull a Tony Hancock on her Syd James [God, I have lived in Nunhead too long - our foreign listeners won't know what I am talking about.] Leanne Bower (with no "S" as she is unique) is ably handling the tech side while amazing Chris Dixon away on 'assignment', not forgotten and definitely missed. This was an experience where we invited a guest back for the second time, a week later, because I made a hash of it the first time. I love this guy.  John Fleming, writer, producer, film producer, et cetera is our solo guest this week. I spend most of the time doing the news, as far as I can tell. John is one of those wonderfully messy English people who insist they are Scottish, and who knows me very well, having helped me with my 2010 Edinburgh show and other projects. He is exceptionally articulate and bright yet easy to be around.  Only one guest, but still lively. With Chris Dixon and Lisa Moyle. 

This was the first show that John Fleming, writer, producer, film producer, et cetera was our solo guest. John Fleming is a writer, producer (Killer Bitch with Katie Price's ex), blogger, and PR whiz. With Hannah Brown sitting in for Chris Dixon and our lovely co-host, Lisa Moyle. 

Very interesting show with Michael Holland, Soutwark News journalist and playwright talking about me, Lewis Schaffer, which is the most exciting topic for me. And Nunheader Tim Siddell, Boycott Coca-Cola Experience, talks and plays a bit of music. I am going to call this one of our better shows, just from listening to a bit of today, 19 February 2010. With Chris Dixon and Lisa Moyle. The only radio show for Americans living in Nunhead. Radio, fabulous medium.

Steve Bennett, Mr Chortle.Com joins us. He is a man I have tremendous respect for because has taken an idea, and through hard work, so unlike what I do, made it a huge success. I didn't listen to much of this show because I had my doubts as to it's merits - at this stage we were still working out the bugs in the show. Still, the dude is interesting and worth a listen. I flub what is to become one of my favorite jokes. I should have said: "Every nation thinks your comedians are the best because your comics know their audience, and know what makes you laugh. Your family and your friends always make you laugh more than strangers. So comedy is best with your family and friends. Its the opposite of sex, which is never good with your family or friends."  Okay, a long way to get there. If you can shorten it, let me know. With lovely Lisa Moyle.
